TEACHING & LEARNING
Visual Arts Education
This part of the Vision group is all about art education; learning through art, with art, about art and learning because of art. Vision & Us brings together our small team of artist teachers, safeguarding and wellbeing staff and you; the community. We are a not-for-profit, community interest company running workshops aimed at children and young adults. We specialise in photography, art, graphics and design, including traditional, digital and contemporary processes.
The idea for Vision & Us came about after acquiring extensive knowledge of statistics relating to under achieving children of disadvantage and ethnic minority communities. Our vision is to work towards breaking the cycle of disadvantage and the stigma attached to school exclusion and social exclusion. Having worked in secondary school settings, we know learning doesn't stop at the school gate; neither does curiosity, imagination or creation. Vision & Us provide safe learning spaces, where students can learn at their own pace, away from assessment criteria.
Additionally, Vision & Us provide a bespoke support systems for individuals by representing +16 students for potential creative work placements. We will support with CV and personal statement writing and will visit companies who have provided work experience posts, to monitor development.
We have been offering our teaching and learning services since 2019 . Our team have visited schools, run workshops, monitored creative work experience and have provided online lessons (predominantly whilst UK schools were closed due to the pandemic). Our founder has continued some great friendships, formed whilst working with colleagues during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Throughout this time, an international, creative, online community was formed; proving that nothing could get in the way of creativity. SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY
The community benefit from an organisation who support children who may have limited access to support from home and from school. We provide teaching and learning outside of the sate curriculum in addition to aiding the wellbeing and mental health of the children, young adults and families who we work with. Vision & Us help with safeguarding needs by working with our close network of local social workers and therapists. Please see our policies and relating documents at the bottom of this page.
